Home/ Blog / Have You Ever Felt Pressure from Management to Complete Jobs Quickly, Even if Safety is Compromised?
Wouldn’t you want to be the person with the solution rather than the person who has to keep reporting the problems?
Time is money. Money is time. Sometimes accidents are caused by employer pressure, but other times it can be you, a veteran employee who is knowledgeable and has the desire to “fix” things or you feel comfortable enough to cut a few corners. In other cases, random incidents may occur, that lead to the discovery of problematic areas. This kind of unfortunate accident does create an opportunity to share, learn and grow and hopefully to create better safety practices.
Automation is one way to speed up processes. This can impact the discovery of problematic areas through employee surveys and mock audits. Some processes shouldn’t require human intervention though. Things like workflows, tasking, and event driven tasks. If XYZ happens then ABC needs to occur. An alert should suffice with a required task tied to it, but ABC should not have to be redefined each and every time. Keep in mind that functional safety practices should never be compromised. Take the extra few minutes to follow 29CFR 1910.xxx.
Which GRC software or regulatory compliance software tool are you using? If you feel that you can’t get buy-in from top management to get automation tools, the least you can do is to get a solution that meets your needs and gives them transparency.
